Malaria has been known to be one of the major diseases that cause more deaths in Malawi. The government is working with stakeholders to eliminate malaria. Recognizing the important advocacy voice of religious leaders, PACHI and its partners engaged them in the fight against malaria since they’ve a greater influence in changing peoples’ behaviour.
Religious leaders in Kasungu have taken an extra gear in sensitizing communities on malaria prevention.

Henry Atananzio Eneya, Roman Catholic Catechist for Chimphaso is one of the leaders working tirelessly in making sure that his followers are safe from malaria.
“After preaching the messages in the church, I visit households to inspect if people are following what we shared during church sessions. Malaria is a serious disease that affect the community as well as church, that is why I have devoted myself so that together we can end malaria in our community. This gives me a chance to discuss face to face with people and elaborate further on what they missed in the church “, Eneya said.

One of the beneficiaries Laina Kachita explained “I always make sure that my family is protected from malaria by sleeping under treated mosquito net every night all year round”

Among others Kachita encouraged everyone to stop the tendency of self-treatment, but to always seek medical treatment early whenever they fall sick.
